I know some of you might disagree with me but here are my views.
- Business Growth: MLB revenues have hit record highs under Manfred’s leadership. He’s expanded digital and international markets, helping make MLBAM (MLB Advanced Media) a tech powerhouse before it was spun off into BAMTech.
- Rule Changes for Pace of Play: While controversial, many fans and analysts have praised the pitch clock, limited pickoffs, and shift ban for making games faster and more exciting—drawing in a younger audience.
- Expanded Playoffs: More teams in the postseason has meant more markets staying engaged longer, boosting TV ratings and fan involvement.
- Labor Peace (So Far): Despite some tension, Manfred has avoided a work stoppage, which isn’t easy in a sport with strong unions and high player salaries.
- Youth & International Outreach: Programs like “Play Ball” and events like the London Series or the Field of Dreams game have aimed to bring baseball to new audiences.
